The Story

Hi, I'm Shankar. I'm a solo developer who believes software should respect its users.

After spending years using apps that tracked my every move, sold my data to advertisers, and constantly nagged me with upsells and "premium" features, I decided to do something about it. I started building the apps I wished existed.

DuttLabs was born from a simple frustration: why is it so hard to find apps that just work? Apps that don't require an account for basic functionality, don't phone home with your personal information, and don't try to manipulate you into endless subscriptions?

The Philosophy

Every app I build follows a set of principles that put users first:

Privacy by Default

Your data belongs to you. My apps store everything locally on your device or in your personal iCloud account. I don't run servers that collect your data. I don't use analytics SDKs that track your behavior. I don't know who you are, what you're doing, or how often you use my apps—and I like it that way.

Offline First

The internet goes down. Planes don't have WiFi (or charge too much for it). Remote areas exist. Your apps should work regardless. Every DuttLabs app is designed to function fully offline. The cloud is optional, not required.

Fair Pricing

I believe in sustainable, honest business models. Some apps are free. Some are one-time purchases. Some have subscriptions—but only when ongoing costs justify it (like server infrastructure for sync). I'll never bait you with a free app only to make basic features require payment. What you see is what you get.

Native Experience

I build exclusively for Apple platforms using SwiftUI and native frameworks. No cross-platform compromises. No web views pretending to be apps. Just fast, beautiful, native software that feels at home on your device.

Do One Thing Well

Each app has a clear purpose and does it well. No feature bloat. No trying to be everything to everyone. Simple, focused tools that solve real problems.

Why "DuttLabs"?

The name is simple: Dutt is my family name, and Labs represents the experimental, craftsman approach I take to building software. It's just me in my workshop, experimenting with ideas and crafting apps I'm proud to put my name on.

The Numbers

As of 2025, DuttLabs has grown to 21 apps across wellness, productivity, family, lifestyle, and utility categories. Each one is maintained and updated regularly. I'm in this for the long haul.

Get in Touch

I love hearing from users. Whether you have a bug to report, a feature to suggest, or just want to say hello, my inbox is always open.

The best way to reach me is through the support page or on Twitter/X.

Thanks for taking the time to learn about DuttLabs. I hope my apps bring a little more simplicity and privacy to your digital life.
